Trevor McClain-Duer

Trevor McClain-Duer, CFA, CPA is a Director with over 15 years of experience in business valuation, private equity, venture capital, real estate, investment management, and financial and dispute advisory services.

His valuation and economic damage expertise is often required for shareholder buy-outs, fair value analysis, pre- and post-closing due diligence, mergers & acquisitions, corporate divestitures, purchase price allocations (PPAs), 409A purposes, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), SBA loans, intellectual property, shareholder and contract disputes, and other litigation related matters. He has also developed and implemented valuation policies and procedures for private equity, venture capital, and real estate funds. His valuations cover many industries, including but not limited to professional service firms, investment partnerships, manufacturing, healthcare, real estate, biotech, waste management, automotive, lending, cannabis, logistics, social media, and technology.

Prior to joining Trellus, Trevor was a leader in the valuation and dispute advisory practices at a Midwest-based financial consulting firm. Prior to this, Trevor provided investment management and valuation services to a family wealth management office with over $1B in assets under management. He was responsible for managing a portfolio of over 40 fund-of-fund and direct real estate, private equity, and venture capital investments. He also performed pre- and post-close due diligence and mark-to-market valuations for the firm and worked on underwriting and transaction structuring as part of the deal team.

Additional experience includes auditing private equity and venture capital firms while providing financial advisory services for a Big 4 accounting firm and underwriting, investing in, and managing real estate.

Trevor is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Illinois and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago, the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), and the University of Notre Dame Monogram Club.

Trevor graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A. in Accounting and was an All-American in Track & Field. He also earned a Master of Accounting from the Ohio State University.
