Joseph Ruble

Joseph Ruble, CPA, CFA, ASA is a Director and has over 25 years of experience in performing business valuation and corporate finance engagements for clients in numerous industries.  Mr. Ruble’s financial analyses have been used to assist clients with mergers and acquisitions, complex litigation matters, tax planning and compliance issues, and financial reporting requirements.

Mr. Ruble has been retained as an expert witness on numerous cases related to gift and estate taxes, minority shareholder oppression, marital dissolution, bankruptcy, and criminal matters.  Mr. Ruble has testified in U.S. Tax Court, Federal Court, and various state courts.  Mr. Ruble has been retained by private companies/individuals, the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice.

Mr. Ruble also has extensive experience assisting clients with financial reporting analyses (ASC 805, ASC 350, and ASC 360).  Mr. Ruble has supported his analyses following reviews by audit firms and by the SEC.

Prior to founding a financial services consultancy that combined with Trellus’ predecessor firm in 2016, Mr. Ruble was the Chief Financial Officer of a venture-backed technology company.  Mr. Ruble has also held the positions of Managing Principal of the Chicago office Business Valuation Services, senior manager in KPMG Peat Marwick’s Corporate Transaction Group, manager in the Valuation Services Group of Price Waterhouse, and manager of planning and analysis for a publicly traded company where he had acquisition and divestiture responsibilities.

Mr. Ruble holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and a Masters of Business Administration degree, concentrating in Finance from DePaul University.  He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, an Accredited Senior Appraiser in the American Society of Appraisers, and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.
